BRIGHTER SMILE WITH SMILE BRILLIANT + A GIVEAWAY

BEFORE
AFTER

By far the best gift I could get myself for Christmas this year was a brighter, whiter smile. It’s no secret that I’m a coffee fanatic and anyone who knows me knows I have to have my morning Jo before I go. Unfortunately, Jo leaves behind some unwanted stains; I’m talking about coffee stained teeth. It has always seemed so bothersome to me to have to make repeat visits to the dentist for professional teeth whitening treatments, I’m a busy lady, so I was over the top excited to partner with Smile Brilliant and say bye bye to coffee stains with a simple, easy to use at home teeth whitening kit.

My friend suggested I quit coffee if I didn’t want to continue staining my teeth, my response, “Can I please have a Hazelnut iced coffee, tall, breve.” Clearly, I have no intentions on quitting the habit anytime soon, but thankfully the teeth whitening gel removes years of stains and prevents future stains; so I can enjoy my favorite beverage and keep my pearly whites, white.

Bet your wondering how this all works? Well, you have to first prepare your custom fitted teeth whitening trays using the the base and catalyst provided. Once your mold is ready, ship them off to get your trays created. Once you receive your trays, then it’s time to whiten. It’s fairly simple, add a modest strip of the teeth whitening gel to each tray, place them in your mouth and go about your evening; cook, clean or Netflix and chill. For those with sensitive teeth I suggest following up with the tooth desensitizing gel. I have pretty sensitive teeth so it was definitely nice to have the desensitizing gel to follow up with after whitening to alleviate any sensitivity.  Have sensitivity? Need some solutions? Now the proof is in the pudding, and I could literally blog all day about my amazing results, but I’m all about answering questions and providing help to those who just want to know more about my experience with Smile Brilliant or just have additional questions about the process. Perhaps you can share helpful information about your teeth whitening journey too. That being said, I’m giving away one FREE whitening kit (worth $149.00) to the person who asks the most questions and/or sparks the most valuable conversation geared at helping others who are either considering teeth whitening, have whitened or are currently whitening.

  1. Hi Sola!

Thank you so much! The after pic shown above is 12 applications (45min-1hour) using the teeth whitening gel and desensitizing gel. Smile Brilliant says that a person with average stained teeth and no natural sensitivity can see results in 7-14 applications. By my 12th application my teeth were REALLY white and I still have 2 syringes of the whitening and desensitizing gel left.

Have you ever whitened your teeth before? Would you consider using an at home whitening kit?

    Hi Deidra!!
Just like you, I LOOOVVEEE coffee.
Unfortunately, coffee loves my teeth just as much.
What can I do to enjoy my morning cup of joe and not have yellow teeth?
    Thanks in advance.
    Andie.

    Deidra,
I love, love, LOVE your blog!!! I also love your gleaming teeth!! I am a coffee drinker (ahem…maybe more of an addict!) and I love my sweet tea (I'm a Southern gal!). I did not pass the “tissue test” (I think that's on a toothpaste or whitening commercial) and I am so intrigued with the teeth whitening systems. I have heard that some are not recommended because of the amount of hydrogen peroxide (the H2O2 pulls water from the teeth), but I saw that this system is 22% carbamide peroxide which is safer. Also, it is mostly glycerin to make the gel stickier. And, it is VEGAN!! How wonderful that it doesn't contain yucky animal gelatin or something gross!?

Did you sleep with the trays? Do you think I should schedule my six month cleaning (due next month) prior to initiating the process?

I just got my braces off last month and I am excited to make my straight chompers more pearly white. 🙂

    Thanks for sharing.

  5. Hello Andie,

Thanks for your comment. I brush and floss at least 2 times a day and follow up with a good mouth wash because like you, I Love me some coffee too, LOL. I believe these efforts have definitely prevented staining. Using Smile Brilliant really whitened them but I was concerned that they would become stained again because I WILL NOT quit coffee but thankfully the gel is designed to prevent future staining. It's been about 3 weeks since I've used the kit and I have had coffee almost everyday and my teeth are still white, but like my mom always says “If it ain't broke, don't fix it” so I will continue the same system I've always had (brush, floss, mouthwash, repeat). Let me know if you'd like me to share a pic of what my teeth look like now. I'd be happy to share. 🙂

  6. Hi there! Thanks for your question. Teeth whitening is safe but of course too much of anything is never good so if your considering at home whitening, I suggest throughly reading up on the company, whitening ingredients, and following the instructions through and through. When I used my at home kit, I read the instructions multiple times until I felt comfortable actually going through with the process. A bit time consuming but worth it (let's be honest, you don't get another set of teeth, LOL so taking your time and reading the manual in detail is worth it. Check out the link below. It may answer any follow up questions you have about safe teeth whitening. Hope this helps.

  7. Hey there Maggie,

Thanks for your questions and comments. Your so sweet. Coffee addicts unite! 🙂 Curious, how do you like your coffee? I love mine iced with hazelnut or cinnamon and a dash of cream 🙂

I had my 6 month cleaning about a week before I started the whitening kit and I was totally fine, and just as an added bonus, I had a crown done during my 10th whitening application and that was also fine.

To answer your other question about the trays, you do not sleep with the trays. You whiten (preferably before bed) from 45min to 3 hours. I started off whitening for 45min per application and worked my way up to about an 1hr 30 minutes as suggested by Smile Brilliant. I experienced some tooth sensitivity the first few applications but after that I was good. I did the whitening applications daily and followed up with the desensitizing gel for 20 min. afterwards. If your teeth are REALLY sensitive, I suggest skipping a day of applications and then go back to it and use the desensitizing gel after every whitening application, it really helps with sensitivity.

  8. Hi Shauna,

Thanks so much for your question. I had the same concern regarding my gums. My gums did burn a bit with my first application of the whitening gel but that was only because I put way to much gel in the trays. The instructions say to apply a thin line of the whitening gel in the trays and you should be just fine. I kind of went overboard, LOL
