Dreaming of plaid. We all know it’s no secret that I’m plaid obsessed and specifically around this time I go way overboard with the print. This year, I had the bright idea of mixing all the plaids in my closet to remix my wardrobe and try something new. I’m no stranger to print mixing, but mixing the plaids is definitely a new one for me. There’s legit a science to this because you don’t want to look like your going to a tacky day event and mixing prints can get tacky real quick if you don’t do it the right way, so today on the blog, I’ll share a few tips on mixing plaids for an effortless, fashion forward look that makes you look like one of the cool kids, yeah I said it, LOL. 🙂 😝

Sometimes, all you need is to mix plaids that have at least one of the same color in it. I have the color navy in my blazer and plaid pants and that same color is reflected in my shoes too. This ties it all together and the outfit flows a whole lot better that way. There are exceptions to this. You don’t have to match all the time, but if you’re a plaid mixing newbie, finding the same color in all your separate pieces is a great beginners choice. I don’t typically play it safe, as I’m sure you already know, but for this I will.

I like to break up my plaids with a solid color. I did a white top to break up my plaid pants and jacket. You can easily break it up with a black or neutral color. This is a great way to play it safe if you’re new to the plaid mixing game.

Usually, I’m a little crazier with my accessories, blending whatever feels good at the moment, but for this look, I kept it simple and added a mustard yellow hat to draw in the yellow in my pants and did all over gold accessories. Sometimes, if nothing else is matching and you want to match head to toe, using your accessories to bring the whole look together is key.

So you don’t want to look like a total train wreck, so if you’re gonna mix prints, and if you’re gonna to mix plaids, your make-up look is key too. It’s kind of like your hair; I can’t stand dressing up if my hair isn’t done, it just throws the whole look off if you know what I mean, maybe you don’t, but still, LOL. 😂  I’m a simple girl when it comes to make-up, with the exception of pageants, I try to keep it simple and just do a bold lip. Consider your make-up look when attempting to pull a mixed plaids look together. It’s easy for this to go south fast, so I always say keep it simple, but fun with the makeup and don’t take yourself too seriously. I opted for the Lava Lamp red lip gloss by Ouifresh. Shop this lippy here if you’re diggin it as much as I am.

By the way, my mustard yellow beret and plaid blazer are both thrifted finds. The beret was a whopping $1 and I can’t quite remember the price of the blazer, but is was dirt cheap. Say it with me guys #winning.

Anyway, I hope this helps kick start your plaid mixing adventures.

Till next time!

So we’ve talked about skin masking and covered all you need to know about detoxing, but what about a fool proof night time skin routine. I know, I know, there are so many layers to this skin care business, no skin pun intended. Have good night time routine is crucial to optimal skin health. A long a grueling day of hitting the streets are skin is practically screaming love. Think about the toxins, dirt and dust in the air your skin comes in contact with on a daily basis. Your night time routine is where you reset the skin from a long days work and replenish during sleep time, so why not use products that make this process quick and easy and not to mention, clean.

Since cold weather in NC is here to stay and I have dry skin, Earth-Kissed Beauty has been the ultimate life saver. I keep my night time routine pretty simple for the most and I’m sharing my step by step process to a easy peezy night time routine that’s quick and painless, LOL because I don’t have time for all that other stuff.

Step 1 is to ALWAYS cleanse. You want to get all that dirt and grim from the day off your body and face and any good skin care routine includes a thorough cleansing process. I typically cleanse my face and body in the shower. Adjusting the temperature to a luke warm water for face, as hot water tends to dry the face out and irritate the skin. My current cleanser of choice is the Trader Joes Spa Face Wash with Tea Tree Oil. For body I use Dove for Sensitive Skin.

Toner is the next step in this quick and easy process. I use a cotton pad to apply my toner to my face. Currently using Thayers Witch hazel Facial Toner UnscentedUsing a toner is the best way to capture any left over dirt your cleanser didn’t get and is also great for balancing the ph levels of your skin. After cleansing, ph levels are typically not balanced.

Nearing the end of this process with restoring the moisture back into your skin. That’s where Earth-Kissed Beauty products come into play. I’m currently using and LOVING the Renewal Night Cream and Lavender Vanilla Body Butter. These have been staples in my routine since the summer and I’ll continue to keep them around because my skin is loving it.

You see, skin care doesn’t have to be stressful and reducing the amount of products I use at night has given me sweet dreams. The way my life is, less is best. My advice, keep your routine clean and simple and it’s pretty much fool proof.

Hope this info was helpful. Till next time, friends.

My new favorite hobby, brushing my teeth and more specifically, brushing my teeth with my new CariPro Ultrasonic Electric Toothbrush by Smile Brilliant. I started using electronic toothbrushes last year when my dentist recommended it during one of my routine visits. Apparently, manual brushing just wasn’t doing it for me. He said I was brushing too hard and it was taking a big toll on my enamel. He thought I might want to consider investing in an electronic toothbrush with soft bristles so, I asked for one for one for Christmas and bam, there it was, under the tree, wrapped up with my name on it. I’ve been using electronic toothbrushes ever since.

I’ve since then added a new electronic toothbrush brand to my oral care routine, the CariPro Ultrasonic Electric Toothbrush. Since using the CariPro, I’ve noticed an extreme difference in the health and look of my teeth. I had my 6 month dentist check-up last month and the dentist said my enamel was in tip top shape and guess what? NO CAVITIES! Yay! #winning.

Keep scrolling for all the deets on this fab toothbrush…

So, there are a few things that make this toothbrush extra special and worth the buy.

I’ve had electric toothbrushes in the past that deliver amazing results, but are very noisy when turned on. This CariPro is super quiet and the vibration is not too harsh.

There are 5 toothbrush settings to meet your toothbrushing needs; clean, white, massage, gum care, sensitive. I have super sensitive teeth, so the sensitive setting is one of my fave for getting that ultra clean feeling without wearing off my enamel.

This toothbrush is not some complicated tool that you’ll spend hours trying to figure out. The instructions are simple and the maintenance is too.

I have yet to run out of battery life on this thing. It holds a charge very well so if you’re like me and brush 2 and sometimes 3 times a day, you won’t have to worry about it losing a charge.

There is no greater feeling than gliding your tongue across teeth that don’t have that gritty feeling. When I say my teeth feel smooth and clean, they feel smooth and clean every time. Not to mention, I use the massage setting on my tongue all the time to make sure my breath stays extra fresh.

I have something special for you so keep scrolling through…

I want you to upgrade your oral care routine too, so here’s 20% off your CariPRO Ultrasonic electric toothbrush purchase when you use code: coilscurlsandcoffee20.
