HOLIDAY PLAID MIX

Dreaming of plaid. We all know it’s no secret that I’m plaid obsessed and specifically around this time I go way overboard with the print. This year, I had the bright idea of mixing all the plaids in my closet to remix my wardrobe and try something new. I’m no stranger to print mixing, but mixing the plaids is definitely a new one for me. There’s legit a science to this because you don’t want to look like your going to a tacky day event and mixing prints can get tacky real quick if you don’t do it the right way, so today on the blog, I’ll share a few tips on mixing plaids for an effortless, fashion forward look that makes you look like one of the cool kids, yeah I said it, LOL. 🙂 😝

BLENDING LIKE COLORS

Sometimes, all you need is to mix plaids that have at least one of the same color in it. I have the color navy in my blazer and plaid pants and that same color is reflected in my shoes too. This ties it all together and the outfit flows a whole lot better that way. There are exceptions to this. You don’t have to match all the time, but if you’re a plaid mixing newbie, finding the same color in all your separate pieces is a great beginners choice. I don’t typically play it safe, as I’m sure you already know, but for this I will.

BREAK IT UP

I like to break up my plaids with a solid color. I did a white top to break up my plaid pants and jacket. You can easily break it up with a black or neutral color. This is a great way to play it safe if you’re new to the plaid mixing game.

MATCHING ACCESSORIES

Usually, I’m a little crazier with my accessories, blending whatever feels good at the moment, but for this look, I kept it simple and added a mustard yellow hat to draw in the yellow in my pants and did all over gold accessories. Sometimes, if nothing else is matching and you want to match head to toe, using your accessories to bring the whole look together is key.

SIMPLE, BUT FUN MAKEUP

So you don’t want to look like a total train wreck, so if you’re gonna mix prints, and if you’re gonna to mix plaids, your make-up look is key too. It’s kind of like your hair; I can’t stand dressing up if my hair isn’t done, it just throws the whole look off if you know what I mean, maybe you don’t, but still, LOL. 😂  I’m a simple girl when it comes to make-up, with the exception of pageants, I try to keep it simple and just do a bold lip. Consider your make-up look when attempting to pull a mixed plaids look together. It’s easy for this to go south fast, so I always say keep it simple, but fun with the makeup and don’t take yourself too seriously. I opted for the Lava Lamp red lip gloss by Ouifresh. Shop this lippy here if you’re diggin it as much as I am.

By the way, my mustard yellow beret and plaid blazer are both thrifted finds. The beret was a whopping $1 and I can’t quite remember the price of the blazer, but is was dirt cheap. Say it with me guys #winning.

Anyway, I hope this helps kick start your plaid mixing adventures.

Till next time!

Sincerely,

Deidra Marie

ON THE ROAD AGAIN

Just dropping in to share a few photos from this past Sunday. Charlie and always take a few pics on this deserted road when we go home to visit his family. Father’s Day was pretty chill. We ate Charlie’s mom and step dad and went to church too. Good food and good vibes, what more could a girl want. I’ll be hanging with my dad this weekend since we spent last weekend with Charlie’s dad. I’m thinking about cooking him a big seafood dinner, but we’ll see. #tobecontinued

Lipgloss is Central Perk by OuiFresh. This is one of my fav colors. It’s a neutral and their lipglosses are ultra moisturizing! Get up on this, you won’t regret it.

Jumpsuit by New York and Company. I just LOVE their jumpsuits. They fit me so well.

Anywho, I’ll be back with some dope content soon so keep your eyes peeled.

Till next time.

Sincerely,

Deidra Marie

GINGER SPICE AND EVERYTHING NICE IN MY LWD

One of my favorite things about warmer weather is getting to wear little white dresses (LWD) like this. While I’ll always love my colors, a little white dress always captures my eye, particularly little white cotton dresses like the one I’m sporting in this post. I love how they flow, lay on my body all easy breezy 🙂 . I can also pretty much pair them with any shoe or accessory for the perfect summer look. When I’m feeling full on boho, I add some white jewelry and tan or brown platform shoes and when I’m feeling funky and want to incorporate my signature color love, I add a pop of color in my shoes or on my lips or with my earrings and necklaces. That’s the thing about a LWD, anyway you rock it, you really can’t go wrong. Dress it up, dress it down, it still looks oh so classy.

Speaking of outfits, I rocked this LWD for Memorial Day. I wanted to look cute prancing around the house and guess what? I did. LOL. Charles and I didn’t do much this year. We lounged, worked in the yard, starting prepping some new blogger content, talked about the future, went for a ride on Charles new motorcycle, biked the trail at the NC Art Museum and ate when weren’t hungry. Just a typical day with the Craig’s and I loved every minute of it. Summer days are slow and Charles and I appreciate it because we needed the time to recovery from work, school and running our photography business. Charles grandma passed the other day, so we are out of town for a few days supporting the family through this difficult time. Some summer days are beautiful, others not so much, but we take the good with the bad and keep pushing to make everyday count.

Keep scrolling for make-up and outfit links.

I don’t have a link for the flowy summer LWD as I purchased it years ago, but I can say you’ll find a lot of similar looking dresses at Ross, Marshall’s and TJ Maxx. Pink platform shoes are from DSW and of course I’m rocking one of my fav lippy colors by OuiFresh, Ginger Spice.

I hope everyone’s summer is going well.

Till next time beautiful people.
