What better way to title this post than to channel my inner Prince. Ha! When the rain comes down the frizz goes up. Approximately 2 rain filled weddings this weekend and not a curl in sight! But let me tell you that I had an absolute blast this weekend. Shall I share the deets? The wedding was at a beautiful Victorian style home in Charlotte, NC. The bride was beautiful and she was chauffeured in on her corvette in rain.  Sounds awful but the wedding was absolutely fabulous. The bride was graceful and she handled the rain with ease and poise. Beautiful purple and pinks were all the rage at this event and with umbrella in hand and a bag full of grape and pink flavored Nerds candy, we conquered the house snapping shots of the beautiful landscape and an occasional shot of me 🙂 Charlie and I expected nothing less than elegant. No rain could stop this wedding and the bridal party was all smiles.

All in all, this wedding was elegant, well put together and nothing less than classy. I love the touch of candy scattered all around the house and I truly appreciate the rain as it set the tone for a crisp yet muggy air that smelt of Jasmine, Lavendar and felt like comfort. Who’d thunk a rain-filled wedding day would turn out to be so elegant. Brides to be, don’t let the rain rain on your parade, handle it with class and grace and keep trucking! You might find the rain brings blessings for your future and moisture to your hair LOL 🙂

Till next time!
Sincerely,
Deidra Marie

Downtown never fails to surprise in all their unexpected locations to shoot. While i’m not a native Raleighian, if that’s even a word, I do take a certain amount of pride in my city and all it has to offer. The city has so many random locations that I believe have been rejected, overlooked and of course not well taken care of but there is so much beauty in the things people throw away. My mom and I just walked the city streets being inspired block by block. I was like a kid in a candy store.
I saw so many abandoned buildings and wanted to get into a time machine and go back for a second and see what these buildings once were. Seeing the street art drew my imagination to places it hasn’t been in years. And clearly, from the pictures, you see I was inspired to bring out my inner child. I suggest everyone skip around the city streets randomly for no apparent reason at all. LOL, it’s freeing. While the signs of most of the abandon buildings read DANGER! NO TRESPASSING! I often wonder what these buildings were. Old factories? Clothing stores? Old space for art galleries? Businesses that tanked? There are so many untold stories about this city that I want to dig a little deeper to investigate and figure it out. I want to know all about colored walls, the broken glass windows, the graffiti, the buildings, everything!

I want to revisit this area and explore some more when I’m not held down by the parking meter and all it’s evil ticketers pacing the city streets for violators. Yes, I know, after 5 parking is free, but by then the sun would have clocked out for the day and I would not be able to capture the light that beams down on these mysterious buildings and broken windows. Call me hyperbolic but being in these locations I become apart, immersed in all it’s attractions and my justification; I was an English major so I have a unique appreciation for beauty and my emotions take over from there. I propose you walk your city streets, explore, feel, be inspired, inspire, be apart, put your phone down and connect and most of all, LIVE!

Till next time.

Sincerely,
Deidra Marie

OTHER SIDE OF THE TRACKS

Railroad tracks of Downtown Garner.

What a pleasant surprise to have found this rustic spot in Garner, North Carolina. This place continues to inspire me with the scenic areas tucked away in the middle of nowhere. It’s like a photographers dream come true if you ask me. I was feeling rather bohemian to say the least. Had to get the dusty boots out the closet and paired it with some feathered earrings and a light, airy cotton dress I got for a steal. I always find the most random things and typically out of season but they never fail to disappoint.
This whole photoshoot was so much fun. It truly captured the essence of what I was going for. I was thinking of a bohemian summer feel and this location delivered without a doubt. I’m so excited to see where the road takes us next time we are out and about on the town. I will miss summer for these very reasons: it’s less clothing you have to wear and more focus on the details of an outfit (accessories, shoes and of course hair).  I will hate to see summer go but can’t wait for Fall to arrive in all it’s glory. Beautiful changing leaves, crisp cool whether and warm rustic colors. Bring it on Fall, and bring on the Pumpkin Spice while your at it too. 🙂
Till next time.
Sincerely,
Deidra Marie
