As a woman of color, it’s not uncommon to have uneven skin tone and discoloration. It has been a constant battle for me but I’m excited to have collaborated with Aveeno and talk about how I’ve incorporated the Positively Radiant skincare line into my daily skincare routine. With my eczema and ultra sensitive skin, I require gentle body washes that don’t leave my skin dry but still exfoliate, cleanse and remove dead skin. Additionally, eczema breakouts have caused dark spots and discoloration, so it is so important to find a regimen that keeps my skin tone even and helps me with daily moisturizing. As I’m sure many of you know, finding the right skin care products that can keep sensitive skin moisturized throughout the day can be tough.

Lately, I’ve been switching things up and have added the Aveeno Positively Radiant skin care line to my skin routine to tackle my dry skin and discoloration issues. It’s been a journey trying to find a full skin care line that can exfoliate, moisturize and correct uneven skin tone but the Aveeno Positevly Radiant Exfoliating Body Wash, body lotion, and Targeted Cream Dark Spot Corrector, have been making my skin care regimen a whole lot easier these days and the results have been amazing. I’ve experienced some amazing skin days lately. FYI: the dark spot corrector has SPF 15 so it couples as a skin tone corrector and sun protectant; it’s double for my trouble :). Did I mention my skin is super soft to the touch and I’m already noticing a difference in the look and feel of my skin. I’m sure in no time my skin will be pageant ready. I haven’t been using this line very long, but I have been seeing and feeling amazing results, even after the first use. With colder days coming our way, it will be so important to keep my skin moisturized and protected from the cold, dry weather. Working these three products into my skin care routine will definitely help me combat the cold winter days ahead of us.

Extra extra, read all about it, I’m proud to announce that I am your new reigning Ms. Full Figured NC 2018. If you’ve been keeping up on IG and Facebook, you already know the good news, but for those that don’t do social media like that, I wanted to share a post with all the pics from this amazing day. I’m overwhelmed by the love and support of my family and friends and it’s all so surreal that I’m a pageant girl and even more surreal that I’m a pageant girl that won. NEVER in a million years did I think I’d be walking around with a crown on my head and the title of Queen. I’ve joked with my husband in the past about calling me Queen Deidra but who would have thought this would be a reality.

Everybody I love and care about was in the building and if they weren’t in the building, they were there in spirit. I can’t thank everyone enough for the love, their support, their guidance, their kind words, their gifts, their presence, their prayers, EVERYTHING. Did I mention I’m overwhelmed and my cup is completely full and better yet, overflowing.

Despite the stress, the weight-loss, the anxiety, the trials, lack of sleep, crazy journey to finding the right gown (changed my gown 3 times), not being able to spend time and hang out with family and friends, I wouldn’t trade this pageant experience for anything else in the world. I’ve learned so much, have grown so much and have made some pretty amazing friends and connections being apart of this amazing experience. I’ll be sharing about my gifts on the blog soon, as well as some confessions about the overall experience in a blogpost later in the year. In the meantime, I’m prepping for the Ms. Full-Figured USA competition which is the national competition taking place in New Jersey in April. All the deets on this to come at a later date.

Thanks for following along, not only the blog, but on this pageant journey, it’s been a crazy ride but I know I couldn’t do it without my loyal CCC readers.

NEW ACCESSORIES WITH CIVION

Like I promised in my last post, I’m getting myself organized for Fall. I was able to get ready quickly for this shoot because my fall clothes were out and organized. It’s amazing how much time you save you prep like a boss! Anyway, after a very long wait, my jewelry from Civion has finally arrived and I’m able showcase the beautiful, classic pieces on the blog.

Allow me to drop an honesty bomb on you. I don’t wear necklaces like that. Sometimes I feel they take away from my crazy tops and outfits I wear often and they can be quite irritating on my neck, but my new gold tiered necklace from Civion has me thinking I shouldn’t write off necklaces from my accessory collection anymore. I’m loving every jewelry piece in their shop. The pieces are simple, classic chic with a little twist. I love that they have almost all their pieces in a gold and silver too. I always get the urge to wear necklaces and earrings together but feel it looks too bulky and looks like I over accessorized, but the simplicity of these pieces really makes for an effortlessly classic look that you can pretty much pull off with any fall outfit.

I’m itching for fall to actually makes it arrival in NC because I’m ready to wear my corduroy mini skirts without getting the side eye. While I patiently wait for the weather to cooperate with my fall outfit ideas, peep this simple, classic look I put together for the transition to fall. The white Calvin Klein button up is a fall fav of mine that I found sifting through the clothing racks of a local thrift and my button up plaid mini skirt is from Charlotte Russe fall collection which you can find here.
