FARMERS AND FRIENDS

Just when I thought grocery shopping was boring, here comes Charles kid cousin and my favorite hairstylist to lighten the mood. This weekend was a whole mood, chilling in Raleigh, shopping the city malls and going on the hunt for green tomatoes with these pretty ladies was my Sunday in nutshell. One of my favorite things to do in Raleigh is shop at the farmers market. The food is always fresh, they have the best homemade jelly and I love the overall chill vibe. Prices on the food is not half bad either. One more thing, visiting the farmers market is an opportunity support local. What more could a girl ask for? By the way, we found the green tomatoes after much searching. We were looking for them because Charles kid cousin, Niya had a craving. She’s staying with us for the summer while she’s in summer school in Durham and what kid cuzzo wants, kid cuzzo gets. Isn’t she the cutest? 🙂

Anyway, the cute curly girl with the hippie romper on is none other than my good friend and hairstylist Jamika. We partnered together on some photo projects to get her brand out there. She’s an up and coming hairstylist in Raleigh, new to the area and seeking out new clientele. If you’re interested in booking one of her fab services, you can check her out: https://allaboutflair.com. She specializes in color, cuts, natural hair, weaves and clip-ins. Well, basically she does it all, and for a reasonable price. Long story short, my hairstylist bailed on me a few days before I competed in my regional pageant. I know, it sucked. Thankfully, an amazing blogger connect recommended Jamika for a walk-in service and bam, the rest is history.

Anyway, I’m going stop yammering and let you check out the dope pics from our Raleigh Farmer’s Market adventures. Enjoy.

GINGER SPICE AND EVERYTHING NICE IN MY LWD

One of my favorite things about warmer weather is getting to wear little white dresses (LWD) like this. While I’ll always love my colors, a little white dress always captures my eye, particularly little white cotton dresses like the one I’m sporting in this post. I love how they flow, lay on my body all easy breezy 🙂 . I can also pretty much pair them with any shoe or accessory for the perfect summer look. When I’m feeling full on boho, I add some white jewelry and tan or brown platform shoes and when I’m feeling funky and want to incorporate my signature color love, I add a pop of color in my shoes or on my lips or with my earrings and necklaces. That’s the thing about a LWD, anyway you rock it, you really can’t go wrong. Dress it up, dress it down, it still looks oh so classy.

Speaking of outfits, I rocked this LWD for Memorial Day. I wanted to look cute prancing around the house and guess what? I did. LOL. Charles and I didn’t do much this year. We lounged, worked in the yard, starting prepping some new blogger content, talked about the future, went for a ride on Charles new motorcycle, biked the trail at the NC Art Museum and ate when weren’t hungry. Just a typical day with the Craig’s and I loved every minute of it. Summer days are slow and Charles and I appreciate it because we needed the time to recovery from work, school and running our photography business. Charles grandma passed the other day, so we are out of town for a few days supporting the family through this difficult time. Some summer days are beautiful, others not so much, but we take the good with the bad and keep pushing to make everyday count.

Keep scrolling for make-up and outfit links.

I don’t have a link for the flowy summer LWD as I purchased it years ago, but I can say you’ll find a lot of similar looking dresses at Ross, Marshall’s and TJ Maxx. Pink platform shoes are from DSW and of course I’m rocking one of my fav lippy colors by OuiFresh, Ginger Spice.

I hope everyone’s summer is going well.

Till next time beautiful people.

ON THE GO HAIR MOISTURE TIPS

I’ll keep it quick since I’m on the go these days, LOL. I don’t have as much time to spend on my hair with pageant queen duties, wife life, grad school, full-time job, and Game of Thrones, LOL. By the way, has anyone been watching lately. So disappointed the last season is ONLY 6 episodes, now what the heck am I supposed to do with my free time. Not that I have any free time, LOL.

In other news, a few moisturizing hairs tips that are quick and get you out the door faster.

SPRITZ

Every few days I spritz my hair with a little home mixture of equal parts avocado oil and water. This expands my hair strands, gives my fro that kinky frizzy look and gets me out the door real quick. Much faster than deep conditioning if you ask me.

ADD A LEAVE IN CONDITIONER MIXTURE

Around the last few days of my wash and go, at night, I usually, spritz a bit of water and add a creamy leave in condish to my edges and glaze a bit over the length of my hair as well. I put my black satin scarf on and in the morning my edges are laid and I swoop my hair in a big curly puff. The puff is my go to for old hair and when I have no time to wash. The leave in conditioner and water is great for a quick moisture boost.

ADD SOME OIL

I know, I know, many of us naturals have heard this time and time again that oil is not a moisturizer and this is true, but to maintain curl definition and avoid extra frizzy, I add a thin layer of thick oil (Apricot, Avocado, Olive) to the hair to make it appear moisturized. This is also good if you’re just doing it for the day and plan to wash your hair soon because then it just acts a pre-poo, so I guess it’s not all that bad after all.

HAIR LOTION

Lately, I’ve been using the Botanical Bliss Caribbean Moisturizing Hair Lotion to get me out the door. I apply it to each individual curl, mostly the front where the curls get real frizzy after a few days. With the product in my fingers, I finger coil a dime size amount to help get the curl definition back and maintain my old style.

Hope these tips are helpful.

Till next time.
