MAKENA BEACH PART II

Let us all give a round of applause to the man who did virtually all the driving whilst touring the Northshore while I had my feet up on the dashboard with a hat over my eyes straight chilling. We were lost for a while trying to find the cool private beaches where the locals surf. Ended up back at Makena beach again. I’m cool with that though. There was plenty of surfing going on there and the waves were amazing. Not that I know a lick about surfing, LOL. Confession, I may or may not have used a bottle of water to wash my hair this day, LOL. Don’t ask, really.

By the way, peep Charles using a map instead of his Apple GPS to navigate, LOL. He is such an old soul. He asked me if I knew anything about maps, I was like yeah, I love that song by Maroon 5.

In other news, after this trip we hit up 2 very fancy Target’s in Hawaii, because who doesn’t go to Target in every city they visit? If you’re ever in Waikiki, make sure to visit their 3 story Target, it’s a dream, really.

I’ll be posting a few more blogpost about my trip. We did so many things while we were here so I have a lot of content coming at you. Stay tuned. By the way, my Hakuna Matata tee is from 5 and Below and the jeans are from our impromptu trip to Target.

See you all next week!

Sincerely,

OUTFIT IDEAS TO GET YOU THROUGH THE REST OF WINTER

Yup, it’s still cold here in NC and it doesn’t look like it’s gonna let up anytime soon. That doesn’t mean your outfits have to be a drag. Usually around this time I’m just about over winter and winter clothing but this year I’ve got some go to looks that have been helping make it through these last few brutal months of the winter season. So today I’ll share 5 outfit ideas to get you through to spring.

.

MINI SKIRTS AND TIGHTS

Yes, I’ve been sporting this look all winter and will continue to do so till further notice, why, because it’s cute and stylish. Lately, I’ve been wear more floral skirts to help transition my wardrobe to a more spring look. The tights and panty hose are just there because it’s too early to go bare leg. If you’re looking for something extra funky, I suggests doing a colorful or printed tight. Perhaps some heart tights for Valentines day.

SWEATER SWITCH

As you can see, I’m wear more of mauve, palish pink colored sweater, a great transition into spring but still very appropriate for winter being that it’s a sweater. Simple switches from winter bold greens and blues to soft blushes and subtle pastels will ease your bored and get you in spring mindset.

MAKE-UP REVAMP

I’m no make-up expert, but the darker lip colors and festive eyeshadows have officially been laid to rest for the season and I’m gradually switching over to bold reds, soft pinks, browns, nudes and of course clear. These are spring colors for sure and sure to get you in a spring state of mind. By the way, the lippy I’m rocking in this post is Central Perk by Oui Fresh, the perfect winter spring transition color.

FLORAL

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, floral is a year around type of deal and it’s all in the way you style it. I love mixing prints and am quick to include a floral print in my everyday looks if it makes sense. darker florals are probably your go-to for this time of year, but again, a great way to get you in that spring state of mind. If you’re not really a fan of floral, try a floral scarf or floral print shoes or do what I did in Hawaii and add a cute flower in your hair.

KIMONO STYLE

For those saying kimonos and kimono style tops and jumpsuits are played out got it all WRONG. This is the ultimate spring look and this style looks good on almost all body types because it accentuates the collar-bone, covers up just enough for a work setting, but can still be super sleek and sexy in fun prints, and silky or satiny fabrics. I have several kimono cover ups that definitely add some flare to a boring winter outfit, but still give me that feeling of spring.

I hope these ideas were super helpful. I’ll be back for another Hawaii update this Thursday.

Till next time.

Sincerely,

Deidra Marie

VISIT TO MAKENA BEACH

Hi everyone! Hope you had an awesome long weekend and a great MLK Day. Heres to another Hawaii post for ya. Now, let’s pick up where we left off. After four days at my work conference in Waikiki, I was more than ready to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and head to the infamous North Shore all my friends were ranting and raving about back here in NC. Without hesitation, our first free day, we dropped our bags off at our Airbnb, and hit the road to see what the North Shore had to offer. After intentionally getting lost for an hour, scoping out the surfers, vegans and pineapple dealers and hippies, we stumbled across Makena Beach. It was quiet, private, and had little to no people, FYI, my favorite type of beach. Charles and I just sunbathed, checked in with family, put our feet in the water, explored the wooded areas, walked the shoreline, took a few pics for the blog and just relaxed and enjoyed the quiet. I love the vibe of the North Shore, the locals are so friendly and welcoming and the pineapples are the freshest sweetest pineapples I. EVER. HAD. Speaking of pineapples, I’ll be sharing more about my visit to the Dole plantation later in the month. What an experience that was!

Sunglasses | Jumpsuit | Shoes

Most of this trip, I kept my looks loose, easy breezy and of course fun and colorful. I guess that’s what the island life is all about, bathing suits and loose clothing. Did I mention this is my kind of vibe? I’m rocking my Oui Fresh Daisy Sunglasses in Sriracha, Jelly Shoes Lip Gloss and I’ve linked the rest of my look above. The jumpsuit was bought on sale from Target, but I’ve linked a similar look for shopping. Of course, no Hawaiian look would be complete with the flower in the hair. The lovely flower was purchased from a fun tourist shop in Waikiki, but it was clearly made for a day at Makena Beach, right?  Looking forward to sharing more Hawaii post at a later date. Hope you have a great rest of the week.
