BOHO CHIC

I love big, flowy, comfortable yet cute and this olive green off the shoulder dress from Love Culture gets it just right! You guys know about my obsession with the color white, but allow me to introduce to you my obsession with boho chic earth toned dresses and big hair. This style has been a summer staple in my closet for a while now and it will continue to be until NC weather begins to cool down. What I like about these dresses is that it hides many of my problem areas. If you want something that is trendy but not clingy, this fabric and flowy dress is a must. The peplum bottom gives it a very feminine, flirty look and doesn’t make you look to boxy because it adds shape. Of course, you know I’ve been rocking the off the shoulder dresses for awhile now and I have gathered a pretty nice collection for the summer months. If there is one trend i’ve been swooning over all summer it’s the off the shoulder look. It’s so flirty and fun! If you haven’t already done so, make your way over to the http://www.loveculture.com and check out all the new dresses, boutique styles and cute sunnies they have! I promise you won’t be disappointed!
Sincerely,
Deidra Marie

AMERICAN WOMAN

I’m waving my American flag and and kindly surrendering to this poor NC weather. 😦 It’s kind of a bummer that my plans to cookout are now officially derailed by this unforgivable, unpredictable NC rain that’s headed our way in the next few hours. Grrr, so wanted to sip on my cold cream soda and enjoy hot dogs and hamburgers in my backyard. We are still having guest come over the house and food on the grill today but it just won’t be the same with not a sun ray in sight.  If you don’t know, Netflix is a must when the rain makes my fourth of July cookout plans a bust. Ha ha, rhymes.
While I am not to happy about this terrible weather, I’m am happy to share the deets on this cute little mock neck tie-dyed mini dress I’m rocking from Rue21. I’ve taken a bit of a liking to Rue21. I find some of the most eclectic and affordable pieces from their online store. This dress can pretty much be worn to any beach outing or summer cookout. This dress has me feeling like Jimi Hendrix girlfriend or some rocker stars girlfriend from Woodstock. Ha, it’s funny how my clothes always seem to transport me to another decade. Did I ever share with you that I’m a bit obsessed with the 70’s. Yes, I truly believe I should have been born in this decade. Matter of fact, I went to a 70’s birthday party and literally didn’t have to buy an outfit for the occasion 🙂 Guess my wardrobe is out of date, I like to say it’s just trendy. 😉
Just in case you’re wondering, the multi-colored thread earrings I’m wearing were hand made by one of my Nigerian friends. She loves making her own jewelry and I love taking it; the perks of having a artsy fartsy friend.
May your burgers and hot dogs rest safely in their buns and may the weather not ruin your perfect 4th of July festivities.
Happy 4th yall’s!
Sincerely,
Deidra Marie

ANOTHER VINTAGE LOOK

Kicking off my marvelous Monday with some vintage love. Charlie and I were in Henderson, NC for a church service this past Sunday and I just had to get some pics of my yellow dress. It’s been collecting dust in my closet and this was a better time than any to break out for a wear. I’m kind of loving this whole vintage look. I’ve began collecting quite a few vintage inspired pieces. I feel the clothes really never go out of style and have the ability to be updated to a more modern look if you want. I like to invest in wardrobe pieces that have a timeless feel to them and can be mixed and matched with just about anything. I purchased this little yellow number from the Ann Taylor Loft last year during their fall sale. It’s a fall dress but the length and sleeve kind of make it wearable for any season. I paired it with some cuter green t-strap block heels. This is my second pair of t-strap block heels. They had so many colors to choose from but Green is my favorite color so the decision wasn’t that hard to make. I have a few dinners coming up this week and might break out these heels for dining and dancing. Wishing you lovelies a fabulous week.
Sincerely,
Deidra Marie
