VISIT TO MAKENA BEACH

Hi everyone! Hope you had an awesome long weekend and a great MLK Day. Heres to another Hawaii post for ya. Now, let’s pick up where we left off. After four days at my work conference in Waikiki, I was more than ready to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and head to the infamous North Shore all my friends were ranting and raving about back here in NC. Without hesitation, our first free day, we dropped our bags off at our Airbnb, and hit the road to see what the North Shore had to offer. After intentionally getting lost for an hour, scoping out the surfers, vegans and pineapple dealers and hippies, we stumbled across Makena Beach. It was quiet, private, and had little to no people, FYI, my favorite type of beach. Charles and I just sunbathed, checked in with family, put our feet in the water, explored the wooded areas, walked the shoreline, took a few pics for the blog and just relaxed and enjoyed the quiet. I love the vibe of the North Shore, the locals are so friendly and welcoming and the pineapples are the freshest sweetest pineapples I. EVER. HAD. Speaking of pineapples, I’ll be sharing more about my visit to the Dole plantation later in the month. What an experience that was!

Sunglasses | Jumpsuit | Shoes

Most of this trip, I kept my looks loose, easy breezy and of course fun and colorful. I guess that’s what the island life is all about, bathing suits and loose clothing. Did I mention this is my kind of vibe? I’m rocking my Oui Fresh Daisy Sunglasses in Sriracha, Jelly Shoes Lip Gloss and I’ve linked the rest of my look above. The jumpsuit was bought on sale from Target, but I’ve linked a similar look for shopping. Of course, no Hawaiian look would be complete with the flower in the hair. The lovely flower was purchased from a fun tourist shop in Waikiki, but it was clearly made for a day at Makena Beach, right?  Looking forward to sharing more Hawaii post at a later date. Hope you have a great rest of the week.

NEXT STOP, NORTH SHORE

And here a few shots of my Northshore beach exploration, plus the lippy I’m loving from Ouifresh lately. I officially want to live in the Northshore, but am sad to have to go back to the reality of icy cold unpredictable weather in North Carolina. I guess it is what it is. Enjoy these shot lovelies.

Till next time.

EARTH KISSED BEAUTY

Been beach hoping around the lovely island of Oahu for the past few days living my best life in my best skin days yet. Silky, smooth and soft to the touch, my skin has been at its all-time best these past few days thanks to Earth Kissed Beauty.

Charles and I have been on the island for about a week now visiting for the International Conference on Education. When we weren’t hanging with educators and other intellectuals, we were soaking up some serious Hawaiian sun, and I’m surprised to say it hasn’t gotten to me yet. Everyday, I’ve been using the Chamomile Peace Sugar Scrub and Sweet Baby Body Butter and my skin has been super soft and supple to the touch. Most body butters I’ve used in the past have had heavy fragrance and tend not to last long, but this body butter keeps me moisturized all day and the smell is not too aggressive: Let’s just say I’ll be buying in bulk from now on.

One of my fave things about this skincare line is that all of the Earth Kissed products are 100% all natural, organic ingredients with no fillers or preservatives. That did make it tricky to travel to Hawaii with, but if kept in cool or in a temperature regulated location, you should be fine. All natural ingredients are usually the first thing I look for in my skincare products because I have ultra sensitive skin in addition to eczema and a skin condition called Hidradentitis Supprativa. I have to be extremely careful with not only my diet, but with what skincare products I opt to use. I’ve become real good at reading ingredient labels and have had great success with products that simply have less in it. Number one skincare shopping rule for me, less is best. For me, the less ingredients the better. I’ve also found that the thicker emollients or skincare products that include thick oils (olive oil, coconut oil, apricot oil and avocado oil) are also a plus and do wonders for my skin. Usually when the products include ingredients like that, it’s long-lasting, really penetrates beyond the first few layers of skin and keeps me moisturized all day.
