LOU & GREY BLOGGER MEET UP

This blogger meet and greet at Lou & Grey North Hills happened close to a month ago and I’m finally getting a chance to share a few pics from this fun-filled event. This summer is my first time really connecting with other bloggers in my area. It’s been great to meet these amazing women in the Triangle and their photographer bf’s and hubbies too 🙂 For those who don’t blog, it’s very common to adopt your spouse or boyfriend as your photographer for your blog, LOL 🙂 😂 . Anyway, everyone I’ve met so far has so many amazing stories to share and their blogs are absolutely amazing with great, authentic, real content. I’ve learned a lot this summer about how important my blogger network is. I must admit, I have kind of been in my blogger bubble for a few years trying to figure out how get noticed on IG and other social outlets to build up a bigger audience but this summer I just simply don’t care about that anymore. I care about the relationships I’ve made with bloggers and content creators. It’s so much more important to me to connect than to stay glued behind a computer screen waiting for opportunities to come my way. I’m learning to let things go and just flow. I’ve never really been to concerned about following simply because those who follow me I know are authentic followers who choose to read my content. This summer has taught me that those who are around for the CCC blog are meant to be there. This blogging thing is hard and requires planning, networking, patience and perseverance. The easy part is that I can just be me.

The beautiful blonde in the black dress is Nicole from The Doctorette blog. Nicole and the Lou & Grey team hosted this amazing blogger meet and greet for us and I can’t thank her and Lou & Grey North Hills enough! I’m sure you see some other familiar faces in the pics too. You may remember my friend Taylor (beautiful floral dress). We were laughing it up at the event talking about how Taylor should start a blog called “Yoga Paws” (because she’s obsessed with her dog and yoga). She’s a bit busy with her PhD program right now but when she gets some down time, I’m sure she’ll be all over this blog idea. And who could forget the lovely Valerie from The Mini Mama blog. It was so great running into her and her lovely cousin (far left). Between the cake pops, good conversation about research and future higher education plans and snapping a few fun pics around the store I was energized and looking back on this day, I’m excited my blogger future. These blogger meet greets are always so unexpected, full of women from diverse backgrounds and enlightening. I hope to one day host my own meet and greet and perhaps promote a life changing initiative. With this summer coming to a close and I feel more confident about the future of the CCC blog and hope you’ll continue to follow along and support me on this journey. Growth, insight and new people help me feel refreshed and enthusiastic about what’s to come. Now I’m all jittery and ready for the next adventure. Stay tuned!

Sincerely,

Deidra Marie

So, I’m crazy late posting these pics but I had to share them because these ladies are the bomb.com. So, allow me to share how late this post is. This all went down on Memorial Day, LOL, I know, I’m terrible. Don’t judge :). I believe I posted these pics on insta and am just now having time to post to my blog. I have to remember that not everyone has an Instagram or a Facebook page, so I try to keep the blog as up to date as possible. With that being said, I’d like to say that there is nothing more amazing than reconnecting with old friends and bringing in new ones. The red curly-haired beauty is a friend of my friend, Shanelle (the beaut in the floral dress). Anyway, we had a blast at the annual hot air balloon event in Fuquay Varina, NC. I’m almost positive that is not the official name of this event, but nonetheless, we had a blast. Well, I did. I’m pretty easy to please, give me a funnel cake and a lawn chair to sit down and eat my funnel cake and I’m good. Nelle was pretty disappointed because the hot air balloons were having some technical difficulties, so only one took flight that day. Poor thing, she was really hoping for like 50 hot air balloons to take flight, LOL. Then we started talking about how hot air balloons are a big deal in Mexico and Turkey and about all the hot air balloon festivals they have every year. I promised to take her, but for now we’d have to stick to Fuquay Varina for financial reasons, LOL.

Anyway, this was my first time exploring this cute little town and I was loving everything I saw. I’m hoping to go back when more than one hot air balloon take off for a trip around town. This may be a bit of a stretch, but I’d be open to getting in one too.

I’ll be posting a new outfit to the blog this Wednesday, so no worries. I just had to share this summer adventure on the blog before it was like unforgivably late. Looking forward to sharing more of my summer days with you all. We have some beach trips planned and I’m thinking about a barbecue too, although those don’t seem fun when you don’t eat meat, LOL.
Till next time.
Sincerely,
Deidra Marie

SOUTHERN WOMEN’S SHOW 2018

For those who haven’t seen my IG post, I walked the catwalk for the annual Southern Women’s Show this past weekend. This was my second time strutting my stuff on the runway. I had some pretty amazing looks to model, and now I want to buy every piece of jewelry and clothing I modeled this past weekend. Note to self, modeling in fashion shows doesn’t help with my shopping addiction. Anyway, thought I’d showcase some of the looks from this weekend. Hope you enjoy! As part of my pageant duties, I was also able to do some volunteering for the Southern Women’s show as well. One of my favorite parts of being affiliated with the Mrs. Full Figured North Carolina Pageant #MSFFNC18 is the plethora of opportunities to support and uplift my community. More on my local community service efforts to come in later post!

Interested in any of the jewelry you saw? All jewelry pieces were designed by my pageant director, Purusha Jones, of Authentically You. Please contact me for more deets on that. All African attire can be purchased at IyasoCreations.com.

Looking forward to sharing more on my pageant adventures in the coming weeks. This journey is getting off to a good start and I’ve met some pretty amazing women who are doing some pretty amazing things to change their communities and change the perception of what it means to be full figured. Curves are beautiful, and you can still be healthy and confident at any size. The women I’ve connected with have awakened a confidence in me that I didn’t know was there. I beginning to love myself and appreciate everything that is me. Connect yourself to people who are about self love and body positivity, because it’s amazing how that energy with transform you, believe me, it spreads like wildfire!

Till next time beautiful people!

Sincerely,

Deidra Marie
