3 WAYS TO STYLE A BLACK LEATHER JACKET

A leather jacket, specifically a black leather jacket is a closet must have. It’s a classic piece I think every stylish woman should own because it never goes out of style and can be styled and worn in so many different ways. I got my leather (pleather rather, lol) jacket on super sale at a Marshall’s several years back and am just now getting the chance to really mix and match it with other pieces in my wardrobe. I kept thinking to myself, why in the world didn’t I wear this sooner. Styling a leather jacket is so easy and takes you from blah to glam in no time. Don’t believe me, keep scrolling for the 3 ways I styled it for my black and white color combo series on my Instagram feed last week.

This is definitely my favorite way to style a leather jacket. Mixing the dainty vibes of a white prairie dress with the hard core vibes of a black leather jacket then adding a punk feel with vintage black leather boots is a whole mood. Also, this is a great way to easily transition into your spring wardrobe. It also helps to add a pop of color to your lips to really drive the point home that you’re so ready for spring!

Black mini skirts are so versatile and work very well with a black leather jacket. Since it’s still a little chilly out here, it’s not really all that great of an idea to go out bare leg, so I’m a sucker for some black sheer tights too, add black leather combat boots and layer with a black sweater and white button up and voila! You have a nicely put together look you can rock out with your friends at brunch or wear after hours for a hot date night and depending on your office environment, you may be able to get away with this at work.

And just when you thought styling a leather jacket couldn’t get any easier. Pairing a leather jacket with a statement t-shirt is definitely an easy way to look effortlessly stylish. I feel like I have a 1,000 tee’s and one of the ways I really get some wear out of them is to pair them with a cute blazer or jacket. I feel like a leather jacket glams up a blah tee with minimal effort on your part and with the ever changing weather situation, having the option to put on and take off a chic leather jacket is nice. Who said tee’s can’t be glam and cool. Hopefully this inspires you to dust off that old t-shirt you’ve been using as pj’s and dress it up with a nice leather jacket for a night out on the town.

Here’s to black leather jackets and all the many creative ways you can rock it!

Till next time.

SURPRISE! I’m pregnant, LOL. Hopefully this explains why I haven’t posted anything to the blog since January. Currently feeling good and celebrating the fact that my nausea days are behind me, well, I hope 😂 LOL.

On the blog today, I’m sharing the most darling springtime look. I’ve been looking for a white dress for Easter for the longest time and have finally found one that fits my growing belly, thanks to PinkBlush Maternity. They have some of the most darling maternity clothing on their website. I love the variety in their online selection. HOLIDAY PLAID MIX

Dreaming of plaid. We all know it’s no secret that I’m plaid obsessed and specifically around this time I go way overboard with the print. This year, I had the bright idea of mixing all the plaids in my closet to remix my wardrobe and try something new. I’m no stranger to print mixing, but mixing the plaids is definitely a new one for me. There’s legit a science to this because you don’t want to look like your going to a tacky day event and mixing prints can get tacky real quick if you don’t do it the right way, so today on the blog, I’ll share a few tips on mixing plaids for an effortless, fashion forward look that makes you look like one of the cool kids, yeah I said it, LOL. 🙂 😝

BLENDING LIKE COLORS

Sometimes, all you need is to mix plaids that have at least one of the same color in it. I have the color navy in my blazer and plaid pants and that same color is reflected in my shoes too. This ties it all together and the outfit flows a whole lot better that way. There are exceptions to this. You don’t have to match all the time, but if you’re a plaid mixing newbie, finding the same color in all your separate pieces is a great beginners choice. I don’t typically play it safe, as I’m sure you already know, but for this I will.

BREAK IT UP

I like to break up my plaids with a solid color. I did a white top to break up my plaid pants and jacket. You can easily break it up with a black or neutral color. This is a great way to play it safe if you’re new to the plaid mixing game.

MATCHING ACCESSORIES

Usually, I’m a little crazier with my accessories, blending whatever feels good at the moment, but for this look, I kept it simple and added a mustard yellow hat to draw in the yellow in my pants and did all over gold accessories. Sometimes, if nothing else is matching and you want to match head to toe, using your accessories to bring the whole look together is key.

SIMPLE, BUT FUN MAKEUP

So you don’t want to look like a total train wreck, so if you’re gonna mix prints, and if you’re gonna to mix plaids, your make-up look is key too. It’s kind of like your hair; I can’t stand dressing up if my hair isn’t done, it just throws the whole look off if you know what I mean, maybe you don’t, but still, LOL. 😂  I’m a simple girl when it comes to make-up, with the exception of pageants, I try to keep it simple and just do a bold lip. Consider your make-up look when attempting to pull a mixed plaids look together. It’s easy for this to go south fast, so I always say keep it simple, but fun with the makeup and don’t take yourself too seriously. I opted for the Lava Lamp red lip gloss by Ouifresh. Shop this lippy here if you’re diggin it as much as I am.

By the way, my mustard yellow beret and plaid blazer are both thrifted finds. The beret was a whopping $1 and I can’t quite remember the price of the blazer, but is was dirt cheap. Say it with me guys #winning.

Anyway, I hope this helps kick start your plaid mixing adventures.

Till next time!

Sincerely,

Deidra Marie
