SHRIMP AND STOCKINGS

Orange Sesame Greens with Spiced Shrimp (i.e. The decked out salad i’m referring to) 🙂
Hannah got the same thing….LOL we always do that. Check out her decked out biscuit and jelly, yummy!

Tupelo Honey Cafe had these garlic biscuits that were literally to die for! Of course my biscuit was smothered in honey. Ha! Our 30 minute circuit training literally went down the drain after the second biscuit but good food and good friends is all I need at this point.

Now the moment you’ve all been waiting on, the hair and weekend outfit situation…

This weekend was full of good eats with good friends and all black attire with a twist. After battling the holiday crowd at work on Saturday, I destressed with my good friend and workout buddy, Hannah. After a grueling 30 minutes of circuit training, Hannah suggested we put in some cardio, I suggested we eat LOL. She put up a good fight before we finally decided eating was necessary. The compromise….we must eat salad. Ugh, but it’s food so I did not complain. We found a cozy little spot nestled in the corner of Cameron Village shopping Center called Tupelo Honey Cafe. Check the decked out salad I ordered.
This weekend was all black everything with patent leather black and white oxfords, mini skirt, shimmery top and black tights. I did a wash n go on Friday. I deep conditioned with the Mielle Organics Babassu Mint Almond Conditioner and used a bit of Shea Moisture Restorative Leave-In Conditioner and locked in my curls with a moderate amount of the As I Am Curling Jelly. I love the curling jelly because it keeps my curls soft and defined. I’m not a hair in face kind of girl but I decided why not. I kept my hair in a pineapple all weekend because it literally rained the whole time. I’m tired of the rain. We are expecting sunshine the rest of the week. CAN’T WAIT! The sun will come out tomorrow….:)
Till next time lovlies!
Sincerely,

WEEKEND EATS AND A IMPROMPTU MEET UP WITH DARTH VADER

The most random series of events to ever happen on Halloween. While I don’t celebrate the holiday, I do indulge in a bit of candy, particularly the bite sized Kit-Kat Bars (LOVE THOSE DERN THINGS) October is always a pretty crazy month for me with the combination fo birthdays, anniversaries and church events galore. I’m officially tired and would like to crawl under my fluffless comforter, indulge in Netflix only to return in 3 days regretting how unproductive I was but satisfied for the rejuvenation. But..as life goes, this will never happen as we have vamped up for the ultimate Thanksgiving and Christmas festivities.

Shall I start from the beginning?

Hung out with Darth Vader on Friday at work and ate waaay to many slices of Enzo’s Pizza, washed down with my all-time fav, Canada Dry Ginger Ale.  Fast forward to the Saturday Shenanigans which included a combination of work, church and then brushed away to a romantic Hotel in the Hills (North Hills) LOL to celebrate our 5th anniversary in style.  All good eats from Thursday to Sunday and to conclude the weekend, we caught a flick-ironically, it was Burnt. A great film which highlighted the rise, fall and rise of an arrogant sous-chef looking for a comeback in the oh so elegant city of London. The movie was a delightful surprise and I now have a new found respect for the culinary arts. Gosh, the attention to detail is absolutely mind blowing but good food should have no lack in precision, quality, and appearance. It is truly a meticulous field of work which utilizes basic arithmetic, detail, technique and forward thinking. That being said…shall I share some of my food shots?

Indian Cuisine at it’s finest
(Top Left) Gourmet French Toast (Top Right) Warm fudge brownie with gourmet french vanilla ice cream, cherry, chocolate fudge and warm caramel drizzle (Bottom Left) Wood-grilled  salmon and  California blend wood-grilled vegetables, Parmesan mashed potatoes (Bottom right) Tiki Masala and Naan

So, I guess you would like to see a pic of me and Darth? Here you are. He’s actually a cool dude. Definitely not as mean as people portray him to be.

Me and Darth Vader twinning with  the red top and red light saber. 🙂

Till next time good peoples!

Sincerely,

SUNDAY FASHION FINDS

Black Shift Dress-H&M
Long Beaded Necklace-Cato
Metallic Gold Hoop Earrings-Charlotte Russe
Leopard Print Fashion Gasses-Charlotte Russe
Rose Gold Kitten Heels-Nine West
Pumpkin Orange Knitted Scarf-Forever 21

I wanted to start sharing some of my favorite, affordable fashion finds which i’ll post every Sunday. I love browsing for various pieces that I feel complete an outfit. I rely solely on accessories to elevate my fall and winter wardrobe as I feel accessories really highlight pieces of an outfit that may be covered up with heavy coats and other outerwear during these cold winter months. Shoes, scarves, necklaces, tights, hats, earrings and of course funky hair accessories, really pull together a less than impressive outfit. Check out this cute get up I put together for yesterday’s church service.

I decided to wear the Black shift dress, heels, necklace and a more modest metallic earring for church service as the weather was a bit warm for the scarf. Keep in mind that the options are endless when you have a little black dress. Basically, every time you wear all black, it always looks professional and very “put together”. I’m all about purchasing simple pieces and mixing and matching them with items I already own. You save money that way and you will have the simple pieces for a long time! This black dress cost me about $10 and I took a few accessories I already owned and voila, instant trendy look. If your looking to vamp up your accessories, I highly suggest taking a trip to Forever 21! They have reasonably priced scarves, earrings and necklaces that can take a very blah outfit to cute and trendy in under 5.

Till next time.

Sincerely,

Deidra Marie
