LIPSTICK AND COILS

I always use to bypass the lipstick isle and head straight for the Target hair products and of course my fav Rimmel London eyeliner. The thought of wearing lipstick was a bit dreadful to me until I made a random trip to the Mac cosmetics shop in the mall one day. The sales lady asked if I was interested in any lipsticks and I told her immediately that my lips were way to big for lipstick. She gave me a confused face, wooed me over to the lipstick bar and said “big lips are what lipstick is made for.” At first I was a bit concerned by her statement as I had conditioned myself to think that drawing to much attention to these lips with reds and pinks would be a fashion no no. In fact, I had convinced myself that I would look like a complete clown if I dare place any color to the most distinct feature on my face. The sales lady picked out a few colors, worked some magic with a subtle lip liner, taught me how to apply and blend appropriately and fast forward to now and I’m the proud owner of over 7 different lippies which I now use in rotation regularly. This goes to show that with the right sales person you can find what works for you and develop another shopping habit, LOL.

I’m currently obsessing over the Maybeline lippies at Target. I have 3 colors now that I can’t get enough of. They are also great colors for the spring. I’ve linked all three at the top for you. It pays to venture out. Aside from learning to be comfortable with lipstick, I’ve also learned to just be comfortable with myself and my full lips. It really took a long time to get to this point and who would of thought lipstick would help me on my journey. Who knows, maybe I’ll color my hair next. As for the hair situation, I was rocking a 2 day old twist-out. It was frizzy and big because I opted to use very little product this time around but I made it work and did a half up half down style which I’m so loving these days.

Hope everyone had a great week!

Sincerely,

DON’T GO CHASING B-DAY BALLOONS

I’ve been so busy this month that I forgot to give you all the deets on my birthday parties. I TURNED 30 just in case you didn’t know from my zillions of post on Insta and FB. Charles wanted to do it big this year and booked a fun filled day for my family and friends. While I have no picture evidence of the first b-day event in question, it was very real and it really happened, adult laser tag that is. Two skinned knees later I was ready to go home hook my oxygen tank and spend the rest of the day in bed recovering, j/k. Well, sort of, I was exhausted. For some reason I thought I was Jason Bourne and could muster enough energy to beat 20 10 year old kids at laser tag. Yup, this is 30 ladies and gentlemen. As quoted so eloquently by Forrest Gump, “And just like that, my running days were over.” See exhibit A, B, and C, the pics of me chasing the pink balloon, yup this was exhausting too.  I literally needed a few weeks to recover hence while I’m finally writing this post now, LOL

In any case, had a delicious lunch at this amazing tex mex restaurant called Chuy’s, food was sooo fresh! Then, a lackluster dinner at Bruno’s that night. Long story short, the service was not up to par, food was salty, but with family and friends there I couldn’t complain. It was an amazing day full love and joy. As for 31, they can have that. I’ll be 30 for awhile as I’m currently liking the way this feels.

Oh, before I go. I’ve linked a similar sparkly green dress and my red b-day dress at le top of the post. Enjoy and have a good week!

Sincerely,

Deidra Marie

LAST STOP, RODEO DRIVE

It’s no doubt this trip to LA was short, but we jammed packed as many activities as we could while there. One being the obligatory visit to the famous Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles, and of course Rodeo Drive. It was nice seeing my big bro. I think we’ll be back again because as far as taking in the attractions, we barely scratched the surface.

By the way, people drive Beamers, Benz, Bentley’s, Ashton Martin’s and Bugatti’s like it’s nothing out here. Meanwhile, back in NC, I’m just trying to make it to Friday with my 10 dollars of gas in my 2013 Prius, LOL.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, this completes my tour of Hollywood. Till next time LA.

Sincerely,

Deidra Marie
