BIRTHDAY PRINTS

I couldn’t be more happy with how this weekend turned out. Spending time with family and friends is really all that matters to me, and to do that this weekend brought me so much joy. Good food, family, a little bit of cardio workout mixed in and VOILA, a happy Deidra at the end of the day, LOL. Now it’s back to reality: school, work, Spanish class, and the occasional Netflix binge session. No lie guys, after all the shenanigans this weekend, I still feel like I haven’t exhausted all my energy. I think the older I get the more energy I have. Thank God for that.

So, about this outfit. The pink jumpsuit was purchased sometime last year from the new Gabrielle Union clothing line at New York and Company. I am such a sucker for a jumpsuit and even more of a sucker for a jumpsuit in a neon bright color. If this is your first time reading the CCC blog, then you couldn’t possibly know that I’m completely obsessed with bright colors, prints and anything vintage or thrift. I work hard to bring color to my content and hope that it brings happiness to your day. My blazer was purchased from a vintage shop called vtijkandi.com I found them while scrolling through post on Instagram. I’ve purchased several items from this shop and they never go wrong. All items are reasonably priced and they have $5 deals! Can’t beat that, huh? If you’re ever in the mood to buy a funky printed blazer or top, check them out at the website link above or check them out on Instagram at @vintijkandi.
Who else is obsessed with bright colors and jumpsuits? It’s a great go to piece for parties and such.
Sadly, my jumpsuit is no longer available but I’ve provided a link above to similar jumpsuits from NY and Company.

Hope you guys have an awesome week!

Sincerely,

Deidra Marie

SPRING THINGS

Oh March, you come in like a mighty rushing wind, steal my heart and leave me on cloud nine. I love March so much, not because it’s my birthday month but because everything seems so fresh and new. Blossoms and green start to appear and the colors start to make appear in places that were once brown and not appealing. It’s also finally the month you can grab a lightweight coat and just go. Speaking of lightweight,  I’m drooling over this green floral kimono I found at the Ann Taylor Loft a few weeks back. I’m a sucker for a kimono because they are a bit of a blouse and a bit of a blazer all in one. When you put a kimono on you instantly dress up a drab top. Who else is ready for spring things?

In other news, Charlie and I have a crazy March ahead of us. My birthday shenanigans, a beach trip and we are shooting a wedding in Atlanta as well. Let’s get crazy.  We are still in the process of booking our next international trip. Things aren’t looking good, flights are stupid expensive right now so we are just waiting it out till we find cheap deals, LOL. Anyone booking any international travels this year? Where are you headed?

Oh, by the way, I almost forgot. I nailed my pageant interview and am now officially a 2018 Miss Full Figured NC delegate. Woo Hoo! Yay! So excited to get this party started. Looking forward to connecting with some amazing women, doing community service and strutting my stuff in a bikini and pageant gown. Stay tuned, this will all be documented on the CCC blog baby. Don’t you worry, I’ll get all the shenanigans, I promise.

Happy first week of March!

Links to my kimono, boots and similar loft denim are at the top for ya. XOXO
Sincerely,

Deidra Marie

BLACK N WHITE AND 2018 HAIR ROUTINE

2018 has been all about the wash n go. I don’t think I’ve mastered this style but I can do a decent wash n go in under 2 hours. Lately, I’ve been wearing this hair style because I just simply don’t have the time to do much else with my hair. With the right products, I’ve been out the door in less than 2 hours, which in my case, is amazing! Hair routine deets are all listed below.

1. Wash with a mild shampoo, lately I’ve been using Mane Choice’s Easy on the Curls Shampoo

2. Detangle in 4 sections under running water in the shower after shampoo rinse out

3. Add deep conditioner, I use Mielle Organics Babassu Oil and Mint Deep Conditioner. It has great slip. I usually deep condition every other week. On my off weeks I just co-wash, wash n go.

4. If it’s deep condition week I usually sit under a hooded dryer for 20-30 minutes with a plastic cap.

5. Rinse deep condition out.

6. Apply leave in conditioner (Raw Shea Butter Leave-in by Shea Moisture) apply Aloe Vera Juice, then apply oil, lately, I’ve been using avocado oil or almond oil.

7. Split hair is 6 sections and apply styling gel to each section. I’ve been using the Mielle Organics Pomegranate and Honey Curling Custard, but now that it is more humid, my hair requires a bit more hold so I’m switching back to Kinky Curly Curling Custard again until next winter. As for my application method, I do a mixture of shingling, praying hands method and raking method. The front of my hair is very tempermental so shingling works best. In the back I can usually get away with applying the gel and raking.

8. I’ve been using the hair diffuser lately, I love it but my hair in the front does not, so I now only diffuse the back and let the front air dry. If I have all the time in the world (which I never do) I let all my hair air dry. Sometimes I get it like 60% dry by sitting under the hooded dryer then let the rest air dry, just depends on my mood that day.

And that’s really all folks.

Because I get so annoyed with my hair in the summer, I’ll either cut it short or keep it in twist. Life’s to short to be dealing with hair on your neck in the hot sticky summer.

By the way, I saw you scoping out my black and white blazer. This is one of my most loved finds from @feliciafaye_vintage. I’m truly in love with this one, like for real. One of the things I love most about vintage finds is that size is never really an issue because back in the day everyone wore everything oversized.  I highly recommend checking out her stash on Instagram though. She has some pretty nice goodies in stock.

Hope you have a good week!
