THE POWER OF COLLABORATION: A STORY OF TWO GIRLS JUST SHOPPING THE TARGET MAKE-UP ISLE

This past weekend I had a laundry list of things to do. Well, every weekend I have a laundry list of things to do, but let’s just say I’ve been working, working hard to build connections, network and support other women in the business of doing business. There’s something super special about randomness. I met Kathleen at the NC Art Museum last year; she was taking photos for an up and coming blogger/vlogger and I was just snapping pics with the family because that’s just what I do. In any case, we exchanged numbers and agreed to collaborate sometime in the future. The collaboration happened this past Friday, at the Target make-up isle because who doesn’t love having meetings in the Target make-up isle? LOL😆  and I know, only a year later did we clear our schedules for a meet up. I guess this is what it means to be booked and busy. Having only seen this beautiful person once, I didn’t know what to expect, but I knew it would be magical. I feel like we’ve been kicking it for years. There is something amazing about women supporting other women. It’s so important in the content creation world. We are what we support, what we stand for, what we make of situations. I just happened to take a random meet up and make it an opportunity to love on my new friend and support her beautiful photography business, Kathleen Nolis Photography. She definitely has an eye for the romantic. You should check her work out.

An amazing blogger once told me, in reference to increasing engagement, that you have to give love to get love. I have never forgotten this advice and have taken it with me through this blogging and photography journey. I’m a natural cheerleader, I root people on because our words our powerful and can be used to catapult people to amazing new heights. I also love seeing the fruit of encouragement. Sometimes, people just need a loving word to move past self-doubt, disbelief, low confidence. I know, I need a word everyday because negativity creeps in more often than you think. Although, I must admit, it’s easier to pick others up than it is to pick myself up sometimes>>>honesty alert, I don’t have it all together, despite what my Facebook and IG appear to tell you.

So I ask, who are you rooting for today? What are you rooting for today? Who have you loved on today? Have you made an effort to spark a fire in something or someone?

And as I end this post, recognize that all problems can be solved by making a short trip through the  Target make-up isle, nah, j/k, but in all seriousness, lets take the time to root our friends on and even strangers, cheer for them too because you never know where your this may lead you. Encourage, build up, pour into, love on and push those around you. All this is done through our words and good old fashion collaboration. Take time to meet new people, you never know where it may lead you. In this special case, it lead me to Target, with this beautiful soul.

Oh by the way, before I go, this dope vintage blazer I’m wearing is from Felicia Faye Vintage. Check her site out and grab you a few colorful pieces to brighten up that wardrobe of yours.

Till next time.

MAKENA BEACH PART II

Let us all give a round of applause to the man who did virtually all the driving whilst touring the Northshore while I had my feet up on the dashboard with a hat over my eyes straight chilling. We were lost for a while trying to find the cool private beaches where the locals surf. Ended up back at Makena beach again. I’m cool with that though. There was plenty of surfing going on there and the waves were amazing. Not that I know a lick about surfing, LOL. Confession, I may or may not have used a bottle of water to wash my hair this day, LOL. Don’t ask, really.

By the way, peep Charles using a map instead of his Apple GPS to navigate, LOL. He is such an old soul. He asked me if I knew anything about maps, I was like yeah, I love that song by Maroon 5.

In other news, after this trip we hit up 2 very fancy Target’s in Hawaii, because who doesn’t go to Target in every city they visit? If you’re ever in Waikiki, make sure to visit their 3 story Target, it’s a dream, really.

I’ll be posting a few more blogpost about my trip. We did so many things while we were here so I have a lot of content coming at you. Stay tuned. By the way, my Hakuna Matata tee is from 5 and Below and the jeans are from our impromptu trip to Target.

See you all next week!

Sincerely,

Deidra Marie

VISIT TO MAKENA BEACH

Hi everyone! Hope you had an awesome long weekend and a great MLK Day. Heres to another Hawaii post for ya. Now, let’s pick up where we left off. After four days at my work conference in Waikiki, I was more than ready to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and head to the infamous North Shore all my friends were ranting and raving about back here in NC. Without hesitation, our first free day, we dropped our bags off at our Airbnb, and hit the road to see what the North Shore had to offer. After intentionally getting lost for an hour, scoping out the surfers, vegans and pineapple dealers and hippies, we stumbled across Makena Beach. It was quiet, private, and had little to no people, FYI, my favorite type of beach. Charles and I just sunbathed, checked in with family, put our feet in the water, explored the wooded areas, walked the shoreline, took a few pics for the blog and just relaxed and enjoyed the quiet. I love the vibe of the North Shore, the locals are so friendly and welcoming and the pineapples are the freshest sweetest pineapples I. EVER. HAD. Speaking of pineapples, I’ll be sharing more about my visit to the Dole plantation later in the month. What an experience that was!

Sunglasses | Jumpsuit | Shoes

Most of this trip, I kept my looks loose, easy breezy and of course fun and colorful. I guess that’s what the island life is all about, bathing suits and loose clothing. Did I mention this is my kind of vibe? I’m rocking my Oui Fresh Daisy Sunglasses in Sriracha, Jelly Shoes Lip Gloss and I’ve linked the rest of my look above. The jumpsuit was bought on sale from Target, but I’ve linked a similar look for shopping. Of course, no Hawaiian look would be complete with the flower in the hair. The lovely flower was purchased from a fun tourist shop in Waikiki, but it was clearly made for a day at Makena Beach, right?  Looking forward to sharing more Hawaii post at a later date. Hope you have a great rest of the week.
