A DOUGHNUT A DAY KEEPS THE DOC AWAY

We just couldn’t help ourselves. One of the many stops we made on our visit to Virginia was Krispy Kreme. It’s literally impossible to just drive by this place when the hot light is on. We didn’t fight the urge, saw the large sign getting off the freeway and floored it to the shop. Not exactly on our diet plan but hey, you only live once, right? It was the perfect way to start our morning and last day in VA. I got 6 glazed and a vanilla iced coffee and Charlie got a ice cold milk and the chocolate covered ones. Need I remind you, we are currently training for a 5K in September. Yeah, a 5K, we ran a few miles when we got back in town to burn off at least one of these darn donuts so we didn’t feel to bad. For some reason, these donuts are just so much better when they are hot, the glaze just kind of melts in your mouth. That being said, I suggest following these 5 rules for your next Krispy Kreme visit:

My 5 rules for visiting Krispy Kreme:
Rule #1
Never go there if the hot light is not on!

Rule #2
To avoid dry mouth, order an iced coffee or cold milk, it’s not complete without one of these beverages

Rule #3
You can’t just eat 1, so don’t fight it. Do you boo!

Rule #4
Glazed are the best but be adventurous every now and then and get you a donut with sprinkles!

Rule #5
Prepare for guilty for eating a dozen by yourself and make plans to visit the gym later on that day. 🙂

Like rule #5, vacay is over and it’s back to salads and water 😦 Now you know why we road trip so much, it’s an excuse to eat bad. There is no way anyone is eating kale on a road trip, that’s just ludicrous. Hump day here we go!

Just so you know, the title of this post is a complete lie so don’t go to Krispy Kreme racking up on this their fluffy, glazed goodness. 🙂 I will admit, it is hard to only have just one.

Sincerely,

Deidra Marie

THE STREETS OF OLD SAN JUAN

As you can see, there was a major cat chase in town, there are literally cats roaming everywhere around the streets of San Juan and of course, you know I had a field day taking numerous pics of all the colored walls in the city. I was obsessed. I haven’t posted nearly as many colored wall pics. I took so many. This city is very colorful, full of life and rich in culture, good food, and all around good people. Charles and I said we’d be back for a visit sometime in the future as we didn’t get to see much of new San Juan. This place is on the do travel list before we settle down, LOL.

Since we have now become frequent travellers, thought I’d share some of our first time blogger traveller tips, hope this helps:

1. Over Pack
This sounds absolutely crazy but I actually ran out of clothes the first day we got to San Juan. We were gone for a total of 10 days and the last thing I thought would ever happen to me was running out of clothes. If your like me, and just have to have multiple outfit options I suggest you over pack, and pack things that you can mix and match with just about anything. If your not like me, just over pack under garments and socks, you can never have enough of those.

2. Make a checklist
I tend to forget things, okay, lies, I ALWAYS forget things, so I started making a checklist so that way I have all the basic needs covered.

3. Bring your own headphones
Let’s be honest, the headphones they give you on your flight are CHEAP, you are better off bringing your own and just being extra careful not to leave them anywhere.

4. More Batteries
Bring extra battery packs for your camera when your out and about exploring. Charles and I can literally spend a whole day just walking around shooting pic,s so with two batteries we know for sure we’ll capture everything instead of going back to the hotel and waiting for our battery to charge before exploring some more.

5. Make friends with the locals
We’ve had some of the best experiences when we’ve just carried on casual conversation with the locals. Locals know where to find the best food, hot spots, night life and sight seeing. Now, of course there are some rules to this, use your discernment because everyone is not trustworthy.

6. Map out your activities before you get there.
We book short fun trips so there is not a lot of time to sit around figuring out what were going to do. Plan your activities before you get there so all your time is spent having fun instead of planning to have fun.

Well, I guess that completes our tour of all the islands and speaking of travels, Charlie and I are currently planning a trip to Morocco and Barcelona, kind of excited and can’t wait to see what these beautiful places have in store for the Craig’s. Till next time folks!

Sincerely,

Deidra Marie

CROSSKEYS VINEYARD

When in Virginia, we wine. Our first tour on our trip was to the CrossKeys Vineyards for an amazing wine tour. When I tell you the pics don’t do this vineyard justice, they really don’t. It is much more beautiful in person. This place was absolutely breathtaking. The air was so fresh and clean, it was tranquil and the tour was so informative. We learned a lot about the start of the vineyard, how they make their red and white wines and about wine sales. This is the strangest thing, but we didn’t even do any wine tasting. I had no food on my stomach so I didn’t want to get sick. Charlie and I just hung around the vineyard taking pics, relaxing and enjoy the beautiful scenery. We tend to visit places at the most opportune times, in this case, witnessed a wedding on the terrace. The bride and groom were beautiful and the wedding set-up was very classy and romantic. If I could do it all over again I’d get married on a vineyard with just a handful of my closest family and friends. This is definitely something to look into for our 10 year anniversary. Hope everyone is enjoying their time with family and friends. Gearing up for a 4th of July cookout tomorrow. Super excited for a some dogs and burgers. Hope you guys have a happy 4th! 😉

Sincerely,

Deidra Marie
