We came, we saw, and we bought a lot of random treasures to take back to friends and family. This was definitely one of my favorite places to visit. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the culture, the people, the music and of course the sun. We learned a lot about the history of the Cozumel and took some time to explore places close to the port and deep in the city. Of course I enjoyed going into the city. Oddly enough, once we traveled into the old part of the city it was quite, many people were at the port selling things and accommodating tourist so Charlie and I had a lot of time to ourselves and snapped a lot of pictures of the inner city at peace. I was kind of sad when it was time to head back to the ship because my skin was loving this sun and amazing weather and Cozumel was a party with nonstop dancing;any chance I get to dance I take it! I only regret not going to the ruins. Apparently the ruins is very far away from the port and is a bit pricey for a taxi out there. We thought we’d get our money’s worth by touring the city and hanging out at the beach for an hour or so but I will be back and the ruins will be first on my list to visit!

Meanwhile, back on the ship, Charlie and I grabbed some more food…AGAIN. It’s unlimited food and ice cream, what would you do? No judge zone yall’s. Anyhow, after some major grubbing, we headed to the room for some good napping and then off to 3 comedy shows. Yep, I said it, 3 comedy shows. Yes, they had other things to do on the ship but we preferred to laugh and eat and eat. I loved the comedians on this cruise, absolutely no filter, just the way I like it. Well, they did a kids variety hour and that was filtered of course LOL. I suggest everyone go on at least one cruise in their life. Minus the motion sickness you are pretty much on a ship dancing, drinking, learning, singing karaoke and soaking up some serious rays and eating way to much food. It’s a constant party where you can meet people from all over the world. Charlie and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and look forward to cruising again next April. Next stop is Puerto Rico!

Till next time!

Sincerely,

Thank you Mr. Sancho’s
This was literally our first Easter away from home and away from our home church. It felt kind of weird but fortunately we were able to attend a church service in the city of Cozumel. Our tour guide, Pepe, showed us around the city and halfway through the tour Charles spotted a beautiful yellow church on the corner. Come to find out, Pepe attends this church so needless to say Charlie was interested. Talk about being in the right place at the right time; we showed up in the middle of service and stayed for a bit of the message from the priest and prayer. It was definitely an experience listening to a sermon in all Spanish. Kinda wishing I’d listened to my Spanish teacher in high school. I caught a couple words here and there. Thankfully, Pepe was there to translate. Halfway through the service we decided to snap some shots on the outside of the church and a little boy started having a temper tantrum in the middle of service. His grandmother was pretty upset and snatched out his seat and escorted him out the church speaking in Spanish very loud. Talk about eventful.

After hanging around for a bit of the church service, we headed to Mr. Sancho’s beach. One of the few free entry beaches on the island. I must say, Cozumel is beautiful and very rich in history. Mr. Sancho’s beach was a bit further out from the port but well worth the drive. On the way, Pepe was giving us some history lessons on Cozumel and pointed out a few statues, properties and monuments. The beach resort was absolutely beautiful. Charlie and I just played in the water like little kids, dabbled in the sand and just soaked up some good sun rays. I so didn’t want the day to end but like any dream, you have to wake up eventually.  All in all, it was a great Easter Day and now I can live to say I spent Resurrection day chilling beach side.

Pepe had tons to show us on our Cozumel tour. Stay tuned for more city pics.

Till next time.

Sincerely,

Deidra Marie

Hey Dee, look back!
And we out
Our first day in Cozumel and all Charlie wanted to do was look at colorful plant life. Mexico is vibrant, colorful and full of life. I have way to many pictures to cram into one post so I’ve started with  a few shots of the colorful walls near the port and pictures of the new city and some of the old city. Cozumel is loaded with tourist activities from jet skiing, to snorkeling and para sailing. As with any tourist spot, the locals are there to keep you entertained, but I’m easily amused so I chose to walk around the city and take my own tour. Charles and I just decided to get lost in the city, snap cool pics and open up our hearts and minds to be inspired by how the locals live. Far far away from the tourist hot spots, we passed by a lot of abandoned buildings and businesses and ended up  wandering off onto random streets where locals were conversing and going about their day to day duties. It was all to much to take in just one day but walking the city streets helped me feel more involved in the city. My goal was to connect, and while I can never truly connect in the way a local does, I was able to bring home visuals, smells and memories of a city unlike my own. We finally made it to the beach about an hour or so later. I’ll post soon about our beach adventure.

Till next time.

Sincerely,

Deidra Marie
