FAIR DAY

In true North Carolinian Style we paid a visit to the annual NC State Fair! Charlie and I have been going for years to enjoy the delectable blooming onions and funnel cakes, of course. Your crazy if you don’t like fried bread covered in processed powdered sugar. It’s just one night out of the year that we indulge and pretend we are not clogging our arteries. LOL, needless to say, this food got the best of Charlie and he was out like a light by 8:30pm last night. HA, he’s such a grandpa. We pretty much just walked around, ate, walked around some more, ate a little bit more, ran into a few Donald Trump supporters handing out bumper stickers and what not, ate some more, and finally called it quits after our lemonade was all watered down. LOL 🙂

Didn’t exactly make the right eating choices last night considering Charlie and I are training for a 8K but it’s back to business today 🙂 I swear, well unless of course I get free tickets to the fair before it leaves on the 23rd. 🙂 Yeah, I’m bad, I know, but would you really be turning down some free tickets? Yeah, thought so. Looking to head out to the fair sometime soon? Checkout the discounts and ticket prices here

MOISTURIZING WITH OYIN

It’s always been a struggle finding the right hair moisturizer that would provide optimal moisture without making my kinks and coils fall flat. I’ve searched high and low for that special product and have even revisited some hair moisturizers 2 or 3 times hoping the results would be different. I have lots and lots of strands, high density hair with a mix of medium to course textures and nothing but spiral curls ranging in different sizes throughout my head; so now you know my struggle? The amount of product I use makes a huge difference in the end styling result: applying to much product to the curls in the back will result in limp, over-stretched coils with barely there definition and spring. Applying to little product to the front will result in extremely dry loose ringlets with-YOU GUESSED IT- no curl definition.  Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not so much concerned with curl definition as I am with moisture. To be perfectly honest, finding a moisturizer to tame the multiple curl patterns was a beast, but with many years of hunting and 20 plus products later, I found SOMETHING!

Oyin Handmade Hair Dew Daily Hair Quenching Lotion– ladies and gents, this product is the best thing since shoes strings. Not to light, not to heavy, and smells divine! I was a bit skeptical about the coconut oil in it since I find this oil doesn’t really do much for my hair lately, but it solved quite a few of my hair woes (limp coils, dryness, weigh down). I dab a quarter-size amount of this product on damp or dry hair every other day, and instantly have fluffy, springy kinks and coils. It’s my simple fall hair routine. When the weather gets cold, my coils get dry, so this helps alleviate some of that nonsense. Doesn’t get much simpler than that for me. I use this as a coil-refresher because it literally does just that-refreshes my coils. I suggest checking this baby out at Target or check out Oyin’s website-linked above.
Hey, one more thing, be on the look out for the deets on my simple Fall make-up routine next.
Sincerely,
Deidra Marie

LUNCH DATE, DINNER DATE AND OUT REAL LATE

This was a weekend filled with mall shopping, restaurant hoping, mixed with a little aftermath of Hurricane Matthew. Thankfully our side of town wasn’t severely impacted. There was flooding in certain areas, trees everywhere and no electricity for a few days but nothing compared to the aftermath Haiti is going through right now. Prayers going up for those in Haiti and Florida and any surrounding areas.
Attempting to spend as much time with one of my best friends before her departure back to the islands for med school. While she’ll be back in a month, it’s still nice to have some much needed girl talk, random trips to the mall, sugar binges, and random laughs about the college days. Ah, how time flys.
After a few hours spent with my favorite Bahama mamma, it was off to another outing with good church friends to celebrate some birthdays. 10 coconut shrimp later, it was time to face the reality that Sunday was no more. All in all it was a very chill weekend. Now for the Monday madness. Let the games begin.
I don’t have any deets on the green bomber jacket or the green booties I rocked yesterday as I snagged them both on sale months ago, but I did tag some similar styles from the same places I purchased them. Enjoy.
Sincerely,
Deidra Marie
