MIXING AND MATCHING WITH TANEL VEENRE JEWELRY

Lately I’ve been throwing pieces together that don’t make sense and I love it. I love the mix of old and new clothing pieces and I also love the idea of wearing an outfit that looks like I’m going to work but also looks like I’m going for a run or out for date night. This outfit has a little bit of everything and that’s the vibe I’ve been on all summer; wear outfits that are fit for any occasion. That being said, here are a few tips for mixing and matching outfits that can be appropriate for multiple occasions.

BE BRAVE

You have to trust your mixing and matching skills. Most of my bravery comes from color blocking outfits. I’m not afraid to mix colors and patterns. In fact, it’s all I really know how to do because I do it so much. Trust your styling skills and just go for it. Sometimes the oddest outfits are the ones that really help you express yourself and how you’re feeling. Clothing and fashion is art, and sometimes art is not suppose to make sense, it’s suppose to challenge the popular vote and break down systems that would other wise keep us silent. Be brave and use your clothes to make a statement in a world where sometimes your voice is hard to be heard. In other words, let the clothes speak for you.

A LITTLE DAINTY, A LITTLE STREET

I love the juxtaposition of street style and dainty femme wear. It’s like saying I’m hardcore, but can still be soft, delicate and feminine if need be. I do this often by pairing pant suits with sneakers and very dainty earrings like the dope ones I’m wearing for this blogpost by Tenel Veenre Jewelry. You should check out their site by the way. They have some of the most colorful fun ear berries that can really take your look to it’s next level. I’m rocking the Wild Bananas with this look. Yup, they are called ear berries, cute huh?

SEASON MIX

I love to mix pieces from different seasons. I’m not talking jean skirts and Ugg boots, LOL. It’s kind of weird, but if done correctly, your outfits can really make all the sense in the world. For example, a cute floral maxi dress with booties. Maxi dresses are clearly a summer look and booties are clearly a fall/winter item, but when paired together, they make and awesome transition outfit into fall and winter. Don’t believe me, here’s the proof.

BLAZERS

You may have heard me say this before on a blogpost or two and I can’t stress it enough that blazers are the ultimate clothing item to take outfits from daywear to night. Blazers elevate an outfit and can tone an outfit down too. All you need are a few to complete a good transition look. Need I say more?

By the way, dope sunnies by Sojos Vision. Peep my last post for all the deets on this awesome company and get you a pair.

Till next time good people.

THE BLAZER CODE: 5 BLAZER MUST HAVES

Now you know the blazer is the ultimate staple in my wardrobe. It’s one of my signature style pieces and I wear one just about everyday. I think every fashionista should own a few. Why? Because they pair well with any outfit, are easy, and make even your most boring looks stylish and so put together. Today I’m dropping a list of the 5 must have blazers, enjoy!

PRINTED BLAZER

You must have a blazer with a funky print. I have several and pair them with an all white or all black look. Sometimes, when I’m feeling extra extra, I pair my printed blazer with printed bottoms. As you know, I’m no stranger to mixing prints and colors. My advice to you would be to step out of your comfort zone and just go for it. Try different pattern mixes till something floats your boat. You’ll be surprised how much you stand out and shine.

ALL BLACK BLAZER

A black blazer is a must! No doubts or questions about it, having one of these in your closet is great for interviews, toning down a crazy look and it’s great for work and church events too. It’s simple, it’s sleek, its conservative, sophisticated and screams all grown up. Get you one of these and keep it for the days you have to slay the work place with style and grace.

COLORFUL BLAZER

Like the printed blazer, having one or 2 fun bright, bold colorful blazers is a MUST. If you’ve been following along for sometime now, you know I’m famous for mixing and matching my colorful blazers with other colorful pieces in my wardrobe. This is a great way to restyle a look and play to the seasons of the year. I often pair a bright, colorful blazer with a more toned down look like all black or all white and when I’m feeling extra extra, I color block and add some bright, bold colors on the bottom to compliment my blazer. However you rock it, just know one or two colorful pieces (specifically a blazer) will help elevate your wardrobe and take your color game to the next level.

LINEN BLAZER

Okay, I know I complain so much about linen being wrinkly and just by far the most annoying fabric on earth, but I’m not going lie when I say I LOVE LOVE LOVE a good linen blazer. Right now it’s scorching hot in NC and a linen blazer allows me to be chic and still stay cool in this crazy heatwave. You can still be comfortable and chic, and a linen blazer offers the best of both worlds. Just be sure to iron real well before use. Just a warning, also just personal experience. Literally walked around looking like a road map one day. #lessonlearned LOL. 😂

CROPPED BLAZER

Not sure this look is actually trending right now, but you know me, I don’t care. Trend or no trend, if it looks good and makes me feel good, I’m for it honey. I love a good cropped blazer because they are just short enough not to steal the attention of an eye grabbing bottom such as a tulle skirt or bright colored pants or distressed denim. Cropped blazers are a great layering piece for elevating a look, but still leaving time for people to really focus on the other pieces you’re wearing. I have 1 or 2 shorter blazers that I wear frequently when I really want to show off my cute skirts and printed pants.

Speaking of blazers, I nabbed this pretty teal and purple one while in VA a few weeks back. Check this, I paid $3 for it. No lie. I love thrifting, I always feel like I’m winning and so is the thrift store. One more thing before I go, I mixed my OuiFresh lippies for this post and you can shop both amazing lippies here and here. Enjoy!

#TARGETSTYLE

I went to a conference about two weeks and met the amazing Dr. Nancy Doyle, psychologist on the A&E show The Employables. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend watching. It’s an amazing reality show that brings awareness to neurodiversity and how people with different minds cope in workforce. It also highlight the various lives of people with different minds that have struggles getting employment. Okay, just had to explain that before sharing how this even relates to Target and why I’m so grateful we have here in these United States of America. So, Dr. Doyle is from England and she informed of some extremely devastating news, wait for it…..okay, England has no Target. I bought passed out when she said these horrid words to me. They legit have no Target. She wanted me to take her shopping since she was only in the US for 2 days. She fell in love with my denim jumpsuit and asked if I could take her to Target for a shopping spree. Unfortunately, I had left the conference early and didn’t get a chance to shop around with her. She did; however, make a Target run with another friend and ended up spending some coins on the cutest clothes because all Americans know you can never walk into a Target and leave empty handed, LOL. 😂

Target is the most amazing place to get clothes! I’ve been shopping Target for years and they never disappoint. Matter of fact, the cute purple shoes and green pants featured in this post are from, you guessed it, TARGET!

You should wait for Target items to go to 30%, 50% and even 70% off. My purple shoes were $6.00 because I waited. They have the best clothing sales and you can get your grocery shopping and home decor shopping done all at the same time. If you go to Target and shop, my friend, you’re #winning. Currently digging the Wild Fable and A New Day clothing lines. They have super practical items for work and play and they are lines that are pretty inclusive when it comes to sizing. Anyway, just sharing my love for Target on this post as most of the item I’m rocking are from here.

Tell me, do you have a Target where you’re at? What are your most loved items from Target? Drop your answers in the comment box, would love to hear from you.

Till next time.
