Had some much needed rest and relaxation this weekend with none other than my church family. It’s always nice to get away for a few days even if it’s just a few hours down the road. Charlie planned a church leaders retreat at Carolina Beach and I couldn’t have been more ecstatic about it. In between leaders training sessions, we hit the beach for some fun in the sun. I don’t want to say this is my last beach trip of the summer, but I think it is, unless God works miracles with my work schedule before mid October which is about the time NC starts to get cold. 😦

I had Charlie snap a few shots of me in front of my favorite beach house, you know? The sherbert- orangesicle beach house I’ve yapped about in previous post. I kept telling everyone I am will own that house one day. There are so many beach houses that are bigger, fancier and way more detailed but this one just makes me happy. There was a car parked in the driveway, I was so tempted to knock on the door and ask for a tour of the inside, but how awkward would that have been for them ? 🙂 LOL. Can you imagine: “Hello Mr. or Mrs. X, I’d like a tour of your house please, because it’s orange and brings me good vibes. Also, can I use your restroom? Perhaps cop a few refreshments off of you? I’m parched”. LOL 🙂

My mom was totally in her element this weekend. Being a beach local it was like being back home for her (She’s from Florida if that puts things in perspective). We arrived at the beach and she literally left us and headed straight for the ocean. I was like “Wheres mom?” and looked about 1 mile down the beach and there she was. I don’t blame her, I gravitate to water too….and shiny things. LOL.

It was a great time, with great people. Sometimes you just need to get away. For me, it’s like at least 5 days a week.

Not sure you can see it but I was rocking a pretty cool multi-colored bracelet this weekend. Stay tuned for the deets on this!

Guess who completed their first 5k? Deidra Craig did, and I’m proud of it! I spent the weekend getting color dust tossed at me in the blazing hot sun while attempting to complete 3 miles. Might I add that it was all worth it. I was accompanied by none other than the color squad of the century, my girl Hannah, a few co-workers and of course, Charlie Boo. I spent months training for this darn race and ended being so distracted by that magic color dust that I’m not even sure what my run time was. Of course, to get my moneys worth, I made sure every inch of my body was covered in color-head to toe. Surprisingly enough, the color washed right out of my hair-definitely one of my major concerns that day. I will say this though, the color dried my curls out! I had to deep condition for over an hour to regain moisture balance and detangling was a beast, so if you decide to do one of these runs, I suggest covering up your hair with a shower cap or scarf. I’d rather look funny than have to go through the deep conditioning and detangling session I went through. I guesstimate it took about 3 hours to do my hair because of that darn color. Note to self:magical colored fairy dust doesn’t make your hair grow. 🙂
Thinking of signing up for this cupcake run in October. I’ll run for cupcakes, i’ll run for ice cream, i’ll run for sweets, heck, i’ll run for food period. Also, strongly considering the Krispy Kreme challenge, i’ll run for fried carbs too. I’ll pretty much run for anything that’s eatable. 🙂 Someone should seriously consider a 5k funnel cake run. At every station you can add a new topping to your funnel cake till you get to the finish line and your funnel cake is complete with all it’s sugary goodness. Can you tell I’m health conscious? 🙂

What better way to style the rest of summer than with a bright, light and airy colored dress. I was never a fan of this pale canary-yellow color but I took a chance and nabbed this dress from New York and Company on a super sale they had going on for $12! Yup, I said it! $12 ladies and gentlemen! I love a good bargain and this was a darn good bargain! Pretty sure this dress is no longer available since the sale was so amazing and dresses were flying out the door, but I highly recommend checking out their website for other sales because they always have great selections at a reduced price. I’ve linked a similar style dress above for you to check out.
I saw you checking out my lemon scarf ;). I purchased it from Talbots I say about 4 years ago. This has been the most delightful scarf to own. Never thought I’d purchase anything with food on it but this scarf was not over the top or in anyway obnoxious. I’ve worn it a few different ways but this is the first time I’ve worn it to decorate up my plain jane purse. But about this dress, I imagine myself taking a romantic picnic with the hubby in this dress but then I also imagine my skin melting off from all this NC heat! It’s just to darn hot to be picnicking, biking, runs, walking, heck breathing in this heat, LOL. All those in favor of spending the rest of summer posted near the AC with some Netflix and Hulu say “I”….yup that’s what I thought! 🙂
On another random note, I believe I love my deva cut so much that I’m going to continue doing the DIY Deva Cut. My bangs are growing back in so they will have to be chopped off again. I’m getting a little bored with my natural brown color too. I was thinking about doing some color maybe lightening the color up a bit or doing some crazy colored streaks. We’ll see. I say that i’m going to do something crazy to my hair every year and then I punk out and end up doing the same ol thing. Here’s hoping I stick to the plan for 2017.
